It was one of the surprise horror movie hits of 2011, and now "Insidious" looks like it's going to get a sequel. The studio is in discussions with the movie's director and writer to try to get them on board for a second installment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, which starred Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, was released in April and brought in a worldwide haul of $100 million. Considering it was only filmed with a budget of $1.5 million and was released at an unusual time for horror flicks, it's especially impressive.

The story followed a married couple, played by Wilson and Byrne, who believe that their house is haunted. Much to their shock, they eventually determine that it's actually their son who is possessed. There's no word on whether or not the sequel will continue the story, and producers are hoping for a 2013 release, the publication reports.

To check out some of the other scariest movies of the past year, horror buffs may want to watch "Paranormal Activity 3" and "The Thing."
