Ryan Gosling fuels thriller 'Drive'

Ryan Gosling had one of the best years in Hollywood in 2011, and a lot of it was thanks to his dramatic turn in the thriller "Drive." The dark movie earned rave reviews and firmly established Gosling's presence among the most sought after leading men in the industry, and the DVD hits shelves January 31. The movie follows an unnamed man (Gosling) who works as a stunt driver by day, but at night he is a getaway driver for criminals. Business is going well for him until he befriends a neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan) and agrees to help her husband Standard rob a pawn shop to pay a debt to a gangster. The heist goes wrong and Standard is killed, and the driver soon realize he's in over his head. The money belongs to the mob, who sends a series of hitmen after the driver, who has to protect Irene and her son all while trying to save himself. It remains to be seen whether Gosling will get any recognition for his role in "Drive," but to check out some of his other best performances fans should watch "Half Nelson" and "Lars and the Real Girl."
