Given his prolific career, Johnny Depp's latest accolade should not surprise anyone. A Harris Poll of more than 2,200 adults found that the enigmatic movie star is America's favorite actor, beating out legends such as Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, according to The Huffington Post.

Depp's broad appeal certainly helped him considerably in the poll. Although he headlines big-name movies like Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, he is also well-known for his more serious, off-beat roles in films like "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

One look at the list make Depp's accomplishments even more impressive. Eastwood was tied with Denzel Washington in second and Tom Hanks landed in fourth. Wayne rounded out the top five. Other big names populated the list including George Clooney (sixth) and Will Smith (ninth). Sandra Bullock was the only female representative, coming in at seventh.

Anybody looking to check out some of America's favorite actor's best movies may want to watch "Finding Neverland," which earned Depp an Oscar nomination, as well as "Chocolat," which was nominated for Best Picture.
