Tommy Lee Jones cast as legendary general

Tommy Lee Jones has played his fair share of iconic movie roles throughout his prolific career, and now he is poised to tackle one of his most important ones yet. The actor is set to star as Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the upcoming historical movie "Emperor," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is set in the aftermath of the Japanese surrender in World War II. Peter Weber is attached to direct the project, which is expected to start production later this month. According to co-producer Gary Foster, Jones is an obvious choice to embody MacArthur. "Tommy will bring strength, intelligence and gravitas to the portrayal of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, a legendary American hero," he told the publication. Jones will not be the only big name appearing in "Emperor." Matthew Fox has also been tapped for the movie and will portray Gen. Bonner Fellers, who served alongside MacArthur. The film is certainly going to be just the latest in a long line of well-received World War II movies. Some of the best in recent memory are "Saving Private Ryan," the HBO mini-series "The Pacific" and "Letters From Iwo Jima."
