'Bruce Almighty' sequel on the way

The news is b-e-a-utiful for fans of the hit 2003 comedy "Bruce Almighty." Sources have confirmed that the Jim Carrey vehicle is set to get a sequel. The film will bring back Carrey and will team him up with writers Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, Entertainment Weekly reports. Though the film will techinically be the third in the franchise, with the spin-off "Evan Almighty" hitting theaters in 2007, it will be the first to bring back Carrey in the titular role. Given that the original film brought in $484 million worldwide (Carrey's largest haul ever), it seems like a great idea, according to the publication. "Bruce Almighty" starred Carrey in the lead as a down on his luck reporter who becomes frustrated with God. Unhappy with his lack in faith, God (Morgan Freeman) bestows Bruce with his powers to see if it's as easy as he thinks it is. Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carrel also starred. Jim Carrey has certainly been in his fair share of excellent comedy movies over the years including "Dumb and Dumber" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective."
