Robert De Niro, Jason Statham team up in 'Killer Elite'

Whenever Robert De Niro attaches himself to a project, moviegoers can bet that they'll be in for an intense experience. Add action movie star Jason Statham to the mix and it's almost a certainty. Such is the case with "Killer Elite," which comes to DVD on January 10. Danny (Statham) is an experienced hit man who has retired after an assassination in Mexico went awry. However, he is coaxed out of retirement when he is told that his former partner, Hunter (De Niro), is being held captive for failing to complete a mission. He will be executed unless Danny does so in his stead. The task is not an easy one. Danny has been hired by Sheikh Amr to kill three SAS agents because they were responsible for the deaths of his three sons. Not only that, he needs to make their demise look accidental and do it all before the elderly Sheikh passes away himself. Both Statham and De Niro are no stranger to action movies. Some of Statham's best include the white-knuckle thriller "The Transporter," and few people can forget De Niro in "Cape Fear."
