'The Hunger Games' the most anticipated movie of 2012

With just a few days left in 2011, it's beginning to look more and more like 2012 is going to be a great year for movies. There are a number of popular sequels slated for release, but they all are behind a highly-anticipated adaptation of a young adult novel. A new study revealed that "The Hunger Games," is the most eagerly-awaited film, Nextmovie.com reports. The poll, conducted by the website, found that 51 percent of respondents are most looking forward to the adaptation of the Suzanne Collins book. The film, which has an ensemble cast including Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, hits theaters March 23. Perhaps most impressive about the movie's performances is that it bested some longtime fan favorites. "Breaking Dawn Part 2" landed in second place and it also beat "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Hobbit" and "The Amazing Spider-Man." While it might be some time till some of these movies come to the big screen, fans can get in the mood by watching some of 2011's biggest hits including "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part II," "Captain America: The First Avenger," and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."
