'Hell on Wheels' the latest in AMCs impressive run

If there's one network on television that has outshined all the others when it comes to quality programming over the last several years, it is AMC. And with the likes of "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," and "The Walking Dead" attracting viewers, it's no wonder why. After the series premier of "Hell on Wheels" on Sunday night, it looks like AMC is ready to add another one to the list. The highly-anticipated period Western has been thought of as the heir apparent to "Deadwood," which ended more than five years ago. Set in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War, the series takes on an unusual narrative and follows the quest of a former Confederate soldier, Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount), who is hell-bent on exacting revenge on a Union soldier who murdered his wife. Though it is led into by "The Walking Dead," early reviews paint "Hell on Wheels" as a much slower-paced action series, but not any less exciting. A lot remains to be seen, however, as the opening episode only introduced viewers to Bohannon, but if its anything like AMC's other offerings it shouldn't disappoint.
