Star-studded cast does not disappoint in 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'

Ensemble casts are often hit or miss. With so many talented actors it can be difficult for one of them to truly shine, but the romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love," manages to give each member of its star-studded cast a chance. The new release DVD hits shelves November 1. Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) gets the surprise of his life when he learns his wife Emily (Julianne Moore) cheated on him and now wants a divorce. Downtrodden, he moves out of his house and starts frequenting a bar where he meets Jacob (Ryan Gosling), a smooth-talking womanizer. Taking pity on Cal, Jacob tries to help him get over his failed marriage. Although he has success picking up women, Cal still yearns to get back with his wife, and the once promiscuous Jacob finally meets his match in quick-witted law student Hanna (Emma Stone). As all of their stories make their way toward one another, it all sets up for an unlikely climax. Romantic comedies may sometimes get a bad rap for being shallow, but there have been a long list of excellent titles in recent years including "(500) Days of Summer" and "The Proposal."
