It's been less than a year since Conan O'Brien debuted his new talk show on TBS, but the network has apparently been happy enough to give the go ahead to a sitcom that he produced. The show has yet to have a title and a launch date but O'Brien will serve as an executive producer, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Details about the show have been very limited, but early signs indicate that the plot will follow a man who is reunited with his old friend after he quits his job and returns to his home town. Some have speculated that the show may work best as a lead in for Conan's 11 p.m. slot as the network has been unsuccessful in effectively filling the role.

A new lead-in might be important to help revive Conan's ratings, which have been falling significantly ever since his show debuted in November 2010. Still, network officials believe that the ratings may not be indicative of how many people watch the show because a lot of viewers catch it on their DVR or online, the news source reports.

A Conan-produced sitcom will almost certainly have hints of his off-beat sense of humor. To watch some similar series fans may want to check out "How I Met Your Mother," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Friends."
