(We do not collect these names or emails!)Even the most casual superhero movie fan is familiar with "X-Men," but there are less who may know the origin of the band of mutants. The 2011 prequel "X-Men: First Class" seeks to answer any speculation and give viewers a look at how the group was formed. The new release DVD comes to stores September 9.
The movie takes place largely during early 1960s. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has joined forces with the CIA along with several other mutants to form the agency's secret Division X. However, a group of mutants rebels led by Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) eventually teaming up with the Soviet Union to install nuclear missiles in Cuba, thus starting the Cuban Missile Crisis.
As the missiles move closer to the island, president John F. Kennedy dispatch Division X to enforce the blockade. However, they face a crafty foe and have their hands full to avoid the beginning of World War III.
Superhero movies have had somewhat of a resurgence over the last decade or so, and anybody looking to check out some of the best should watch "Batman Begins" and "The Incredible Hulk."
