The middle ages come to life in 'Ironclad'

The middle ages have been one of the most-studied periods in human history, and have also given moviegoers some of the most memorable films as well. The period piece "Ironclad" continues the tradition with a strong cast and an action-packed story. The new release DVD hits shelves July 26. Set in the year 1215, the movie focuses on the push and pull between King John (Paul Giamatti) and English citizens, led by a brave knight named Marshall (James Purefoy). The trouble begins after the King signs the Magna Carta - granting the common man rights. However, he quickly brings in the Danish army to remind the citizens who is in charge. Marshall hears about the plans and leads a group of ragtag soldiers, including Albany (Brian Cox) and thieves to fight for their freedom. Fans of action movies from the middle ages will certainly have many other similar titles to choose from including the HBO series "Rome," a perfect choice for TV on DVD, and the Nicolas Cage-led "Season of the Witch."
