'Arthur' a modern take on a classic comedy

Remaking classic movies can sometimes be a difficult task. After all, living up to the quality of the original material is tough in itself, and critics will certainly judge it more harshly. However, in "Arthur," a fresh update of a Dudley Moore classic, a talented cast is able to navigate the perils and turn in a hilarious romp. The new release DVD comes out July 15. The movie follows the plight of immature playboy Arthur Bach (Russell Brand), who is in line to inherit his families corporation. However, he has a lot of growing up to do before he can do so and his family demands he marry a shrewd businesswoman named Susan (Jennifer Garner) if he is to keep living off his family's largess. He reluctantly agrees to the plan, but its starts to crumble once he falls for Noami (Greta Gerwig), an aspiring author who does her part to turn him into a better man. But its not a matter of if, but when, she finds out about his engagement. Classic comedy movies are often some of the best sources of entertainment and movie buffs may want to check out titles such as "The Jerk" and "Spaceballs."
