Brendan Fraser is poised to have a very busy next few years. In addition to several other projects, producers of the upcoming family action movie "William Tell: 3D" announced that the "Crash" actor will be starring in the titular role. Comingsoon.net reports that the historical film will start shooting in Europe in October.

Though many people are familiar with William Tell as the man who cleanly shot an apple off his son's head with an arrow, the true story behind the historical figure is much more involved. He is famous throughout Europe as one of the most significant figures in Swiss patriotism.

"There is no other actor who is more perfectly suited to be the patriot and family man that is William Tell. Brendan was the driving force behind the movie being shot in 3D," producer Todd Moyer said in a statement. "He's a witty, charming and very likeable action hero, and he really anchors the ensemble cast."

Fraser has been in a number of popular films as of late, including starring alongside Harrison Ford in "Extraordinary Measures," finishing the series in "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor."
