Extended 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy coming to AMC theaters this summer

Fans who can't get enough of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy are in luck. It turns out that select AMC theaters will be be screening the extended cuts of the classic movies, according to a story broke by The One Ring - a fan website for the popular films. Not many details are available about the release, but the first of the movies, "The Fellowship of the Ring" is slated to begin a three-week run on June 14. The second in the series "The Two Towers" is set for June 21, with the Best Picture winning "Return of the King" readied for a week after that. Chances are avid watchers have had an opportunity to catch the added scenes on extended DVDs, but nothing is quite like experiencing an epic film in the theaters. The trilogy set a new standard in terms of popular fantasy movies, and moviegoers who enjoyed Orlando Bloom's turn as Legolas or Elijah Wood's Frodo will certainly appreciate similar titles such as "Reign of Fire" and "Willow."
