"A Wrinkle in Time" is considered to be one of best young adult novels of the last 50 years. Despite its legacy, it took four decades to make a film adaption of the popular fantasy, but it was certainly well worth the wait. The 2004 movie comes to DVD April 26.

Between a tumultuous home life, a difficult time in school and the mysterious disappearance of their father, Meg Murray (Katie Stuart) and her brother Charles (David Dorfman) certainly have a tough life. Nothing seems to be going their way until they meet a weird but kindly woman who promises to take them, along with Calvin O'Keefe (Gregory Smith), to a different planet to rescue their father.

After braving a dangerous journey, the trio find themselves on a distant land called Camazotz, but the perils are not over. Although they manage to find their father, Meg and Charles still face a series of obstacles to return home.

Fantasy movies often make great family DVDs. Titles such as "The Neverending Story" and "Jumanji" remain favorites among families years after their initial releases.
