Many movie buffs balked at a reboot of the Sam Raimi-directed "Spider-Man" movies so close to the completion of the trilogy, but the new film appears to be separating itself from its predecessors. Sony recently unveiled the new Spider-Man costume and it differs from the previous model in several ways, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Among the biggest changes is the web shooter. In the previous films, Spidey's iconic webs emerged from his wrists as part of the genetic mutation caused by the spider bite. This time around, it looks as if Peter Parker invented the web shooters, like in the original comic books, as there is a device on the outside of the costume, according to the news source.

The studio also unveiled the name of the projects, "The Amazing Spider-Man," which is a nod to the comic books as well. The film stars "The Social Network's" Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone, of "Superbad" fame, as Gwen Stacy.

The movie, which is slated for a July 2012 release, will also feature Martin Sheen and Sally Field in supporting roles.
