Guillermo del Toro announced last summer that he's planning on bringing H.P. Lovecraft's horror novel "At the Mountains of Madness" to the big screen, and since then, moviegoers have been yearning for details relating to the project. It looks as though they got a juicy tidbit after James Cameron, who is producing the film, spoke with MTV.com about the possible casting of Tom Cruise.

"Tom does want to do the picture," the "Avatar" director told the news outlet. "I don't think we have a deal with him yet, but we're hoping to get that closed soon. Guillermo is madly working on a new draft of the script. Hopefully we'll be shooting by June or July."

"At the Mountains of Madness" was penned in 1931 and tells the story of an Antarctic expedition and the strange sites and lost civilization the crew encounters on their adventure.

Del Toro is beloved by fans for directing the hit flicks "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Hellboy."
