Movie revivals are all the rage the moment, and it seems as though audiences who were hoping for some fresh material in the near future may be out of luck. In fact, the Los Angeles Times reports that some notable filmmakers are hatching a plan to bring "Pet Sematary" back into theaters.

According to the news outlet, Matthew Greenberg, an up-and-coming screenwriter who penned the 2007 horror-thriller "1408," has already met with studio bigwigs, who were thrilled with his pitch.

"Executives at studio Paramount have put out the word to at least two representatives in the agent community that they are seeking a high-level director to tackle the material," the news source reports.

The original "Pet Sematary," based on Stephen King's beloved spooky tome, was a modest success when it was released in 1989 - BoxOfficeMojo.com reports that the flick grossed a little more than $57 million domestically.

The film also spawned a sequel, "Pet Sematary 2," which starred Edward Furlong and Anthony Edwards.
