Liam Neeson to star in "Battleship"

Liam Neeson will be starring as Admiral Shane in the upcoming film "Battleship," which is based on the popular board game of the same name, according to Reuters. He will join a host of stars in the sci-fi war flick, which is sure to excite lovers of the classic game. Neeson will be starring alongside Taylor Kitsch, who plays Alex Hopper, a naval officer and the love interest of Admiral Shane's daughter, Sam (Brooklyn Decker). Alexander Skarsgard, known for his role on True Blood, will play a commanding officer in the film. There will also be a performance by pop star Rihanna, who portrays a weapons analyst on a ship known as the USS John Paul Jones. The film, which is being directed by Peter Berg, is slated for release in May of 2012. Neeson has a few other projects in the works. He is slated to appear in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader," as well as "The Next Three Days."
