There's been another big reveal for one of the most popular televised singing competitions in America - after two seasons, Kara DioGuardi will be leaving "American Idol."

The news follows similar announcements that both Ellen DeGeneres and series staple Simon Cowell will not be returning to the show as judges. There have been rumors that music icons Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are both in the running to replace the stuffy, no-holds-barred British judge.

Producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke with People Magazine about the show's upcoming season.

"We will be bringing the spotlight back onto the talent and away from the judges," he told the news outlet. "I think that's really very important, especially when you lose such a superb judge as Simon Cowell. You need to move the spotlight off him very quickly!"

While "American Idol" is one of the most-watched televised talent competitions at the moment, other similar programs have become popular throughout the years. "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" are currently adored by millions of home viewers.
