(We do not collect these names or emails!)There was certainly some close competition at the Emmy Awards, yet this weekend also saw one of the most heated box office races in a while.
Earning top honors was the horror film "The Last Exorcism," which took in $21.3 million in ticket sales. The spooky movie earned only $300,000 more than the Matt Dillon and Hayden Christensen film "Takers," which grossed $21 million.
Coming in third was the Sylvester Stallone film "The Expendables," which has enjoyed an incredibly successful run since it hit theaters three weeks ago. The action-adventure, which also stars "Crank" actor Jason Statham and "Fearless" martial arts whiz Jet Li, added $9.5 million to its $82 million total.
Surprisingly, audiences are still gobbling up the gastronomic and romantic adventures of Julia Roberts in "Eat Pray Love," which nabbed fourth place and earned another $7 million in ticket sales. The film, which is based on the book of the same name by Elizabeth Gilbert, has now grossed more than $60 million.
Finally, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's outrageous comedy "The Other Guys" claimed fifth place with $6.6 million this weekend.
