Kristen Bell talks about her desire to be character actress

It's been five years since Kristen Bell popped up on the public radar after starring in "Veronica Mars," but it's safe to say the young actress has a long and fruitful career in front of her. So it may come as a surprise that Bell, who recently starred as a girl looking for love in "When in Rome," wanted to be a known as a funny lady when she first caught the acting bug. "I was very up-front with [my agents] that, despite how I may appear, it was never my goal to be an ingénue," she recently told Women's Wear Daily. While Bell may have wanted to show off her comedic talents, Hollywood has embraced her photogenic visage. In fact, the beautiful blonde recently appeared as the title character in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," a starlet with whom Jason Segel's character, Peter Bretter, was obsessed. Still, Bell isn't hesitant to admit she remains inspired by some of the most talented modern comediennes to grace the silver screen. "I always wanted to be a character actor. I wanted to be Catherine O'Hara. I wanted to be Kathy Bates and Jennifer Coolidge," she told the news source.
