Mark Ruffalo confirmed as the Incredible Hulk

Ever since it was announced that Edward Norton was not offered the role of the Incredible Hulk in the upcoming superhero film "The Avengers," there has been rampant speculation about who will ultimately fill his shoes. It looks like the world did not have to wait long, as it was just announced at this year's Comic-Con that Mark Ruffalo, who recently appeared in "Shutter Island" and currently stars in the indie film "The Kids Are All Right," is set to take on the part of the muscular green hero. Joss Whedon will be writing and directing the film, leaving fans of his other projects like the television cult hits "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Dollhouse," thrilled. The beloved director spoke with MTV.com and gave the inside scoop on casting Ruffalo. "He has what I remember loving about the show, that quality of, you just look at him and you go through it with him, he invites you in a way that [no] other performer has since Bill Bixby," he told the news source. Bixby played the title character in the 1978 "The Incredible Hulk" television series. The show ran for four seasons.
