(We do not collect these names or emails!)"Shrek Forever After" may have won the box office race this past weekend, but that doesn't mean producers of the film are celebrating. According to Entertainment Weekly, the animated tale has taken in just $71.3 million so far.
While these figures seem impressive, filmmakers have grown accustomed to the green ogre performing better. In fact, "Shrek the Third" holds the current record for the highest grossing animated opening with $121 million, which is followed by "Shrek 2," which took in $108 million throughout its first weekend.
Coming in second place was "Iron Man 2," which sold $26.6 million in ticket sales during its third week of release, followed by the Russell Crowe-led "Robin Hood," which added $18.7 million to its total so far.
One of the most disappointing results for Hollywood was "MacGruber," which only took in $4.1 at the box office. The comedy, which stars Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe, is based on a "Saturday Night Live" sketch.
Wiig's bigger hits include the comedies "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Whip it."
