"Clash of the Titans," the remake of the 1981 classic film of the same name, came in first place in the box office race this weekend. The action fantasy took in over $61 million in ticket sales, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Loosely based on a famous Greek myth, the film is set in the fictional city of Argos. We soon meet Perseus (Sam Worthington), a fisherman who is also a demi-god. Perseus' father Zeus (Liam Neeson) is seeking revenge against his brother, Hades (Ralph Fiennes), for killing his family.

As a war begins, Perseus discovers that it's his destiny to overtake Hades and save his city.

Worthington has recently appeared in several notable big budget films. In fact, the native Australian played the lead character, Jake Sully, in James Cameron's blockbuster "Avatar."

Worthington was also seen in "Terminator Salvation" as Marcus Wright, and as the title character in the 2006 independent film "Macbeth."ADNFCR-2673-ID-19704208-ADNFCR
