Many moviegoers are eagerly anticipating the release of Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," which will hit theaters this week.

However, fans of the original story might enjoy another, more stylized take on Lewis Carroll's timeless tale, "Alice."

"Alice," which originally aired as a mini-series on the Syfy Channel , stars Caterina Scorsone as the title character, a 21-year-old girl who journeys into Wonderland after her boyfriend, Jack Chase, is kidnapped by the White Rabbit and taken into the strange underworld.

When she arrives, however, a ring that Jack gave her appears to have a strange power over the tyrannical queen, though she must decide how she wields it.

Instead of the fantastical land of the original story, the modern Wonderland features towering buildings and seedy casinos, all of which are under the dominion of the Queen of Hearts (Kathy Bates).

Fans of Syfy's "Tin Man," which starred Zooey Deschanel as a modern-day Dorothy Gale from "The Wizard of Oz," will enjoy the network's reimagining of another classic children's story.
