The World War II film was a much-anticipated event among Tarantino fans. The story focuses on an American military effort to cause havoc in the Third Reich. On the German side there is Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz), an SS officer who plays the flamboyant and sinister villain in the film.
Brad Pitt also appears as Lieutenant Aldo Raine, aka Aldo the Apache, and Diane Kruger plays Bridget von Hammersmark, a German movie star who serves as a spy for the British.
The complicated, violent story features several unexpected plot twists and interweaving story lines, much like "Pulp Fiction," the director's most well-known work.
Movie-goers who enjoyed other Tarantino classics like "True Romance" or "Natural Born Killers" will appreciate the quality of the filmmaking in "Inglourious Basterds."
The film also boasts plenty of beautifully-executed shots. Those interested in World War II will be sure to appreciate the detail of this unique and plot-laden period piece.
