"Ghostbusters III" could happen soon

It has been rumored for years that a third "Ghostbusters" movie is on the way, but will it finally happen? In 2006, Hollywood.com reported that Dan Ackroyd, who starred in the first two installments "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II," had written the script for a third film. Fans of the original two movies were overjoyed when Harold Ramis confirmed to the Chicago Tribune in 2008 that a third movie was in the making. Ramis wrote, directed and appeared in the first two films, and is set to direct the third. He has also contributed to other comedy classics like "Caddy Shack,""Groundhog Day" and the more recent "Year One," starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. The filmmaker has mentioned that he would like for Ben Stiller ("Night at the Museum") to join the ensemble cast for the third film. This movie would center on the three remaining Ghostbusters who attempt to find a replacement for their former teammate, Venkman, played by Bill Murray, who is also slated to be involved with the project. Murray appeared in "City of Ember." Of course, the Ghostbusters gang will still continue to fight off the occasional ghost.
