Susan Sarandon to receive award

Some consider "Thelma and Louise" to be the ultimate road trip movie and portrait of true female friendship. It is regarded as a classic, and Louise was played by none other than American actress, Susan Sarandon. Since the 1991 movie, Sarandon has had a long and illustrious career. Her work is so admired that Variety.com reveals she is set to receive the Stockholm Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement award. The festival takes place between November 18 and 29 this year. Officials aim to screen 175 movies from 53 different countries, the news provider reports. Among the honorees is Luc Besson, a French producer, writer and director, who is receiving the Visonary Award. Sarandon is no stranger to the spotlight. She won an Oscar in 1996 for her role in "Dead Man Walking" where she played Sister Helen Prejean. This nun worked with prisoners sentenced to death row, and she experienced a personal connection and understanding with one particular inmate. More recently, Sarandon has appeared in "Enchanted" as Queen Narissa, along with Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey.
